The tub contains amaranth, borlotti beans and silverbeet, some of which are so tiny you can't see them. The beans sprouted in this tub, the other plants were added as seedlings, so the beans are the only thing that grew at all.
I have aerated, fertilised, watered more and watered less.
If anyone has any ideas about the cause or possible solutions, I want to know!
Lots of love and thanks in advance,
Cassandra Loiuse.
I hope you get some answers, I'm about to start some gardening here too so all advice welcome :)
ReplyDeleteI do hope so! Such a curious thing!
Deletehow much sun is it getting?
ReplyDeleteThe whole garden gets partial sun for most of the day. Some plants are a little small but this tub is the only one completely stalled.
DeleteMaybe the tub is too small...
ReplyDeleteIt's possible. It's the size I usually use BUT I've never tried to grow amaranth before.
DeleteLoosen the soil? My husband has started working for an organic seedling company, and the guy there says the number one key to successful growing is loose, airy soil so the roots can spread. Good luck! Zanni @ Heart Mama x
ReplyDeleteYes, I have done that a couple of times, but it does seem to get quite hard again quite quickly since it is in a pot. I might try mixing something less absorbent through. :-)
DeleteSorry, I have the least of green thumbs! Hope you save the cuties!
ReplyDeleteThanks! XD As soon as this epic rainfall is over I'll start trying some of these ideas...
DeleteI'm a total black thumb so won't offer advice but am eager to see what everyone says :)
ReplyDeleteBetween us all we'll save them for sure. ;-)
